The Swarm

The Sting

They are tough. They are resilient. They are fierce. They are more reliable than Pavlov's dogs. They can make a grown Kaiju weep with the flicks of their Sticks. They are the Drones engendered by the insectuous love affair of Uchu Chu and Mung Wun. They are the Swarm.

Once upon a time, Kaiju Big Battel had its own love triangle. Romance can soften a Kaiju's tough-guy reputation, but leading lady Mung Wun must have been worth that risk to notorious shyster Uchu Chu. Although the pair publicly swore they were "just good friends," they fooled no one. The Space Bug stole Mung Wun a vintage Spider sports car, escorted her down the red carpet at Kaiju award ceremonies, and named an aerial attack after her ("the Knockout Fly"). Rumors even spread that the duo would unite to form a Team Space Bug tag team called the Creepy-Crawly Couple.

But then allegations started to fly that Mung Wun was also using her sucking parts on another Kaiju insect: Hero American Beetle. Was Mung Wun cheating on Uchu Chu? With another mutated pest and possible son of Uchu Chu, no less? The hullabaloo over Mung Wun's many procreation partners reached a fever pitch during Mayhem in the Atrium V, when the Thai Fly didn't show for her scheduled Battel and a Kaiju cameraman scrambled backstage to find her. When he did find the ladybug, parents all over the world covered their childrens' eyes because she was doing it in a closet with an anonymous insect. Leaving her unidentified stud in the lurch, Mung Wun unabashedly strode into the ring. Then, in the middle of the match, the defiant diva laid a giant, spotted space egg.

Trimesters passed, Mung Wun incubated, and fans speculated. Neither Uchu Chu or Beetle would entertain the possibility that they might not be the father fertilizer - Beetle wanted sons to extend his American dynasty; Uchu Chu wanted Team Space Bug to outnumber Cube's Posse. Then Beetle, a jealous jingoist, demanded a paternity test. A brutal Battel broke out between the two. But when the egg finally hatched, there was no need for paternal proof.

The Swarm, a shock troop of siblings with green-and-purple iridescent sheens, has restored respect to Uchu Chu's ranks. Earning a nasty reputation for infighting, backbiting, and riot inciting, Team Space Bug historically suffered from mismanagement and egoism. It still does, but with the Swarm's steely resolve, unfailing fealty, and undeviating dependability, the Drones show that Team Space Bug is also capable of strength.
